The members of the Ladies Auxiliary to the Veterans of Foreign Wars live by the motto, “Honor the dead by helping the living.” We set out to serve the veterans of this country and our communities in honor of the sacrifices and commitment of every man and woman who has served in uniform. Your Ladies Auxiliary has been very busy this year living up to that motto. We continue to send out hundreds of “Hugs From Home” and personal packages to our deployed troops in Afghanistan every month. The feedback we get from the recipients is amazing.
We recently received over 3000 letters and cards from Milford middle school and high school students, which we include in each “Hug” we send. We also have recently initiated a corporate sponsorship program to help defray the cost of shipping the packages to the troops. Hopefully some of our Milford businesses will partner with us to enable us to send even more packages and “Hugs”.
The Ladies are planning an Easter Plant Sale, so please remember us when you go out to buy your Easter plants this year. We will have a variety of tulips, daffodils, hyacinths, lilies and hydrangea plants for sale April 5th through 8th Noon to 8:00 pm outside in the pavilion.
Finally, I would like to thank everyone for their support this year. Without the cooperation of the Post, the Canteen and the Men's Auxiliary, we would not be able to accomplish all that we do. And to echo the Commander's message, let's not forget to reach out to the service men and women returning home. They all have mothers, sisters, daughters, etc. who are eligible to join the Ladies Auxiliary.
Happy Spring!
Nancy Paddock
Ladies Auxiliary President

Our first unit is stationed in Iraq with 150 service members. How can you help? Please consider sponsoring some treat bags and/or writing a letter to our nation’s finest service men and women.
